Important Safety Notice
Millie Bot is an educational robotics platform, not a toy. It contains lithium batteries, electrical components, and motorized parts that can cause injury if misused. Adult supervision is required at all times. Do not allow children or pets near the robot during operation.
General Safety
- •Always supervise the robot during operation
- •Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from moving wheels and motors
- •Operate on flat, clear surfaces away from stairs, ledges, and obstacles
- •Do not operate near water, pools, or wet surfaces
- •Keep the robot away from young children and pets
- •Do not ride on, sit on, or place heavy objects on the robot
Battery Safety
- •Use only the specified battery type and capacity
- •Do not short-circuit, puncture, crush, or expose batteries to fire
- •Charge batteries in a well-ventilated area on a non-flammable surface
- •Do not leave batteries charging unattended overnight
- •Disconnect the battery before performing any maintenance or modifications
- •If a battery swells, smokes, or overheats, disconnect immediately and move to a safe area
- •Dispose of batteries properly according to local regulations
Electrical Safety
- •Ensure all wiring connections are secure and properly insulated
- •Do not exceed the rated current of fuses and wiring
- •Check for loose connections, frayed wires, or signs of overheating regularly
- •Do not modify the electrical system unless you understand the risks
- •Use appropriate gauge wire for all power connections (14 AWG minimum for main power)
Autonomous Operation
- •The robot may move unexpectedly — always maintain a clear path to the power switch
- •Test new navigation maps in a controlled environment before full deployment
- •Sensors may not detect all obstacles — glass, mirrors, and thin objects may not be seen
- •The robot cannot climb stairs but may not detect drop-offs in all conditions
- •AI behavior may be unpredictable — the robot may respond to voice commands in unexpected ways
Emergency Stop
Familiarize yourself with the emergency stop procedures before operating:
- 1.E-Stop button: Press the E-Stop button on the control tablet to immediately stop all movement
- 2.Tap the face: Tap the robot's face tablet to pause the current activity
- 3.Power switch: The main power switch cuts all power to motors and electronics
- 4.Lift back wheels: Tilt the robot forward to lift the drive wheels off the ground
Environment
- •Indoor use only — not weatherproof or water-resistant
- •Operating temperature: 50°F to 95°F (10°C to 35°C)
- •Do not operate in dusty, humid, or extreme temperature environments
- •Store in a cool, dry place when not in use
Maintenance
- •Power off and disconnect the battery before any maintenance
- •Regularly check wheel tightness and alignment
- •Keep sensors clean and free of dust or debris
- •Inspect wiring for wear, especially near moving parts
